700 or 800 pixels wide is about right, especially for folks with older/smaller monitors. More than about 1000 is definitely too big .....

If you want everyone to see your pictures, and you know how, change the resolution of your photo to 72 dpi an a maximum of 576 pixels wide. This will display on just about everyone screens...the 72...
